JB Football Rules

RUNNING WITH THE BALL: After catching the ball, player must tuck ball under arm or carry ball so flag is visible from back. A player running with the ball must keep it next to his body, and cannot switch the ball from arm to arm to avoid the flag from being pulled. A player is considered tackled when a player from the opposing team grabs the flag and pulls it off the ball. If the flag is grabbed and the ball comes loose from players arm, this is a fumble.

LINE OF SCRIMMAGE: Once the center has placed his hands on the ball no offensive player may move.

BACKWARD PASSES AND FUMBLES: Any ball that is fumbled during a down will be live. A backward pass or fumble may be caught, picked up or intercepted by any player inbounds and advanced. . If the flag is grabbed and the ball comes loose from players arm, this is a fumble.

FORWARD PASSES AND INTERCEPTIONS: If a player is in the air attempting to catch a ball, the player must contact the ground with at least one foot in-bounds with the ball in their possession prior to going out of bounds, unless contact by an opponent causes the player to first touch out-of -bounds. If possession of the ball is lost simultaneously when they hit the ground, it is not a catch. If a forward pass is caught simultaneously by members of opposing teams, the ball is dead at that spot and belongs to the team that snapped the ball.

SCORING:

  • Touchdowns = 6 points
  • Extra Points = 1 point if successful from the 2 yard line
  • Extra Points = 2 points if successful from the 5 yard line
  • Extra Points = 3 points if successful from the 10 yard line
  • Safety = 2 points
  • Defensive Conversion on Extra Point Attempt = 3 points
